What the hell is a ning box? I have a blog and forum and some groups and a network, what the heck is a box? Is a box better than a forum? How big is the box? Can the box be used to ship things in via UPS? Can the box be marked fragile, and if it is, will that make the ning box delivery system use it in drop kick distance competitions like parcels marked fragile get treated at the U.S. Post Office?

Why didn't this box's contents show up till now?

Why do sites have friends lists but no enemies lists?

How come social sites always have friends lists but never enemies lists? Wouldn't it seem only fair and balanced to have enemy lists to even things out? Wouldn't it be kinda fun to turn on your computer and get a bunch of "So and So has put you on their enemy list, would you like to reciprocate?" If this could be tied in with an Eliza-like automatic contradiction system it would be kind of fun. Your auto-contradicter would check for comments from people on your enemy list and contradict them.… Continue

I do agree with Jonathan Snow on the speed of the wiki. It is awful. I have to admit - I NEVER use it. My recommendation for Scripters: http://www.lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=HomePage It is searchable and IMHO the most complete wiki out there. Lots of useful explanations and code examples.

Comment on SL5B Closing Keynote by Mitch Kapor: Monday 9am PST by mcp Moriarty

Out of curiosity I visited the official IBM sim. Boy was I impressed at the number of people there... a whopping 1, just me! I'm sorry but CEO stuff, keynotes and how SL is a technology, I just don't see it. If I want to buy a car or a stereo or TV I visit a proper web page, with proper content, text and images, PDF brochures, a real on-line store. Not some cheesy 3d mock up that ultimately points me to a web site in the end, because SL can't replace the web. I just don't see the business angle, it's a game and the business angle regarding big business is lame. I can see it being used for meetings, that's about it, quite frankly. And even that's pushing it, if you consider the learning curve and how bad some people are with computers in general. lol Selling t-shirts and in-world object, that's a different market all together. I've tried to get several of my on-line friends (from ICQ, Yahoo etc.) to try SL with little if any luck. Firstly, they never heard of it, then they look at the site and some refuse to even bother. The ones that did try it didn't stay. They got bored with it, the sluggishness and bugs, etc. That's my take on SL after over a year. I'm to the point where I go weeks on end without using it. It's become like ICQ, but with cuter avatars. :)

Tobias Novi Says: July 4th, 2008 at 2:56 AM llGetAgentLanguage() Hello ????? What’s up with that , this is a rather personal and private information about my software settings !! What will we see next ? llGetAgentDrawDistance() llGetAgentComputerInformation() llGetAgentEmail() llGetAgentIP() Am I forced now to use the client in foreign language settings to protect my personal informations about me ? Till now it was my choose to give out informations where I come from , but now the LSL does the first steps to turn into spy ware ! I wonder about which big company had pay to get that informations enable . What will we see next , ad spots every 5 minutes in your native language ? Answer that questions LL ! =============================================== The idea isn't for privacy, it's for usability. For instance, i put on my Breach .44 pistols, and it tells me it's up to date in 8 languages. if it could see what language i was using, it could tell me in just that ONE also, people will be able to make things pick what to say to you, depending on what your language is for instance "Sorry, no english help available"

Rascal @134: Hey, I've done my apologizing...sheesh, when did my name become the definition of 'RC'? (That's a joke, btw.) And I *wish* my card was high-end and all that... you're obviously not up to speed on the graphics card market. I invite you to visit newegg.com and browse some products, read reviews and compare prices. You won't see my videocard in the "high-end, professional, expensive" crowd.

@71 Nearly all of the 'new' things in this update are bug fixes. What more do you want?

I found the bears for Phillip and Prospero Linden were not for sale, and Kate confirmed that those two were permenant display there, and not intended to be there for easy collecting. But I found no less than ELEVEN other bears on I-World Island that I COULD collect! Some are hidden really well, an ya gotta look all over. That was a fun treasure hunt! I roller-skated all over the place, an had ta fly ta get one of 'em!
